Das „Nordfieber“ hat uns gepackt – „uns“ das sind Vanessa & Stephan Winter von projectphoto.ch – es begann mit Dänemark, dann kam Schweden und im Sommer 2018 stand Island auf unser „Bucketlist“:))

Mit nahezu 10’000 Fotos sind wir von unser dreiwöchigen Island-Reise zurückgekehrt und 100’000 Eindrücken und haben dabei nur einen Bruchteil der Insel erkunden können. Das Land der Elfen und Trolle und der heißen Quellen und Vulkane hatte uns in seinen Bahn gezogen. Wir wollten schnellstmöglich zurückkehren auf den 64zigten Breitengrad, auf die rauhe Insel im Atlantik irgendwo in der Mitte zwischen Europa und Amerika.

Die Chance dazu bot sich schneller als erwartet und noch dazu in einmaligen Verbindung – im Dezember 2018 durften wir die Hochzeit eines deutschen Paares im fotografisch begleiten – ein „Elopement“ nur zu zweit – die Blogposts (Part I & Part II) darüber findet ihr hier:

Unser Erlebnis in Worte zu fassen fällt sehr schwer und eigentlich kann dieses auch nichts mehr toppen – am Hochzeitstag das „Getting ready“ in einem wunderbaren Ferienhaus mit Blick auf den Kirkjufell (dem „Matterhorn“ Islands) am Grundarfjödur, eine nordisch & isländische Trauungszeremonie in der Library of Water in Stykkisholmür, Brautpaarfotos am Kirkjufellfossar, das Brechen der isländischen Hochzeitstorte Kranskaka bei Tee & Champagner, das Abendessen im besten Fischrestaurants Islands dem Bjargarsteinn und als wäre das nicht noch genug, die tanzenden Nordlichter am Abend als krönender Abschluss des Hochzeitstages unseres Brautpaares und der Folge-Fotoshootingtag bei allerschönstem Islandwetter auf der Südseite der Halbinsel Snaefellsnes – wären wir nicht voller Tatendrang und leben unsere Träume…..

Also wurde aus „Nach-Island“ ganz schnell wieder „Vor-Island“ und die Idee war geboren zwei Leidenschaften miteinander zu verknüpfen, die Hochzeitsfotografie & Island:))

Die Idee: Eure Hochzeit zu zweit in Island

Manche Brautpaare möchten ihre Hochzeit, ihre Liebe ganz gross feiern, im grossen Rahmen mit ganz vielen Hochzeitsgästen am besten auf einem Märchenschloss, in einem reich geschmückten Saal und mit einer Pferdenkutschen-Fahrt von der Kirche zum Schloss – anderen Brautpaare wiederum stellen sich bei der blossen Vorstellung einer solchen pompösen Hochzeit die Nackenhaare dies nicht aus Freude, denn sie wollen ihren ganz besonderen Tag am liebsten nur zu zweit verbringen.

Was genau ist eine Elopement-Hochzeit & eine Hochzeit zu zweit im Unterschied zu einer traditionellen Hochzeit?

Mit der wortwörtlichen Übersetzung von „to elope“ – „durchbrennen, weglaufen, sich verstecken“ – hat eine Elopement-Hochzeit nur am Rande etwas zu tun, denn sie wird nur von den wenigsten „heimlich & geheim“ und „überstürzt & beschämt & in letzter Minute“ angegangen – meist ist sie wohl überlegt und die Liebsten werden über den Wunsch des Paares nach einer ganz anderen, intimeren Art des Heiratens in Kenntnis gesetzt.

Grundsätzlich geht es diesen Brautpaaren darum sich auf das Wesentliche einer Hochzeit zu konzentrieren – absolut frei vom familiären Druck sich auf die Liebe zueinander. Eine Elopement-Hochzeit ist für diese Paare des wunderbare Weg, ihren ganz besonderen Tag authentisch, intim, persönlich, einzigartig und individuell ganz nach ihren Eigenen Wünschen zu gestalten und diesen ganz besonderen Tag zudem ganz bewusst in Zweisamkeit zu geniessen – an ihrem ganz persönlichen Lieblingsort.

Eine Elopement-Hochzeit gibt dem Brautpaar die Chance ganz ehrlich und aufrichtig die Frage zu beantworten wie sie heiraten wollen wenn es nur ganz und einzig und alleine um sie als Paar geht – ganz ohne Reue. Das Brautpaar kann im Nachgang auf einen Tag zurückblicken an dem es mit Stolz geheiratet hat, ohne auch nur einen Kompromiss einzugehen, kein „wir haben das uns das gemacht weil man es so macht oder weil wir uns dazu verpflichtet gefühlt haben“, kein „wir hätten es so und so gemacht wenn es ganz nach uns gegangen wäre“, weil sich das Brautpaar entschieden hat sein wahres Selbst zu zeigen und ganz egoistisch zu sein im positiven Sinne.

Bei traditionellen Hochzeiten geht es oft darum Zeugnis abzulegen über die Liebe zueinander vor der versammelten grossen Anzahl an Familienmitgliedern und Freundes des Brautpaares aber durch die Anzahl an Personen welche diesem Ereignis beiwohnen wird der Akt an sich weder aussagekräftiger noch wahrhaftiger.

Das Gegenteil ist unter Umständen der Fall – es kann sich wunderbar anfühlen im Kreis seiner Liebsten zu heiraten welche das Brautpaar lieben, es kennen und es voll unterstützen und mit denen sich das Paar rundum wohlfühlt, es kann sich aber auch falsch anfühlen wenn die falschen Personen dem Ereignis beiwohnen, dies kann dazu führen das sich der Hochzeitstag unpersönlich und emotional stressig anfühlt.

Was sind die Vorteile einer Elopement-Hochzeit, einer Hochzeit nur zu zweit?

Der grösste Vorteil – und dies auch budget-technisch – einer Elopement-Hochzeit, ist das die Hochzeitsgäste wegfallen und damit viel weniger Organisationsaufwand für das Brautpaar anfällt und viel weniger Hochzeitskosten auf das Brautpaar zukommen. Da ihr nur zu zweit feiert könnt ihr Euch auch bei dem ganzen drum herum auf das Wesentliche konzentrieren. Hochzeiten können einen recht kostenspielige Angelegenheit sein. Oft spielt das Hochzeitsbudget bei vielen Entscheidungen einen grosse Rolle und zwingt dem Brautpaar Kompromisse auf. Mit zunehmender Gästeliste steigen auch die Kosten.

Die Planung einer Elopement-Hochzeit ist viel weniger zeitintensiv als die Planung einer traditionellen Hochzeit. Ihr müsst nicht monatelang nach einer Hochzeitslocation suchen welche gross genug ist um dort 100 Hochzeitsgäste unterzubringen. Möglicherweise müsst ihr die rechtlichen Unterlagen an einem anderen Ort unterschreiben damit Eure Heirat auch rechtlich bindend ist aber wenn ihr das getan habt, könnt ihr an einem Ort feiern für den Euer Herz brennt.

Auch ein grosser Vorteil – ihr benötigt keine Gästeliste – müsst nicht stundenlang über der Sitzordnung brüten, wer neben wem oder eben nicht. Keine Gedanken verschwenden an die Ernährungsbedürfnisse der veganen Tante drittengrades
oder Ihres glutenfreien Freundes zu ziehen oder zu versuchen,
die Grenze zwischen alten Universitätsfreunden oder Arbeitskollegen zu ziehen, ohne jemanden zu beleidigen.

Wenn ihr jetzt innerlich aufatmet und euch der Gedanke daran Eure Hochzeitsgäste aufzugeben erleichtert, dann solltet ihr Euch für eine Elopement Hochzeit entscheiden.

Reiseprogramm

Tag 1   Anreise – Reykjavík

Flug nach Keflavík und Übernahme des Mietwagens. Kurze Fahrt zur Blauen Lagune, dem bekanntesten Geothermalbad Islands. Entspannen Sie bei einem Bad im warmen Wasser und gönnen Sie sich die reinigende Maske aus dem Kieselerde Schlamm. Anschliessend geniessen Sie im Lava Restaurant bei einem 4-Gänge Gourmet Tasting Menu die Köstlichkeiten der isländischen Küche, bevor Sie in Ihre Unterkunft fahren. Das charmante Hotel Kriunes liegt etwas ausserhalb der Hauptstadt Reykjavik am idyllischen See Elliðavatn. (ca. 50km). Eine Übernachtung im neuen Superior Doppelzimmer.

Tag 2   Reykjavík – Snæfellsnes

Fahrt nach Westisland auf die Halbinsel Snæfellsnes zu ihrer Hochzeitslocation. Snæfellsnes wird oftmals als «Island in einer Nussschale“ bezeichnet, da die Region nahezu alle landschaftlichen Charaktere Islands wiederspiegelt. Der Gletscher Snaefellsjökull ist ihr ständiger Begleiter beim Besuch der malerischen Fischerdörfer und weissen Sandstrände. Hier erwarten Sie zwei Übernachtungen im Hotel Búðir in der Master Suite (neben der berühmten schwarzen Kirche (ca. 175km)     

Tag 3   Hochzeitstag

Nach dem Frühstück begleitet sie ihr deutsprachiger Fotograf / ihre Fotografin bei den Hochzeitsvorbereitungen, beim sogenannten «getting ready» in ihrer Hochzeitssuite. Eine erfahrene Make-up Artistin & Hairstylistin kümmert sich hierbei um ihren perfekten Hochzeitslook. 

Ihre Elopement – ihre Hochzeit nur zu zweit – zelebrieren sie in oder bei der schwarzen Kirche von Búðir.

Nachdem sie mit Champagner auf dieses ganz besondere Ereignis angestossen haben, brechen sie gemeinsam ein Stück der isländischen Hochzeitstorte und gönnen sich zudem den einen oder anderen landestypischen Snack. Im Anschluss findet ihr Brautpaar-Fotoshooting in der Umgebung von Búðir, in Arnarstapi und Londragar statt (Dauer 3 Stunden) bei welchem epischen Portraits in der einmaligen Landschaft Islands entstehen. Abends kehren Sie für ihr Hochzeitsfestessen in das Hotel Budir zurück und lassen ihren ganz besonderen Tag bei einem Candle-Light Dinner ausklingen.

Tag 4  Snæfellsnes – Keflavík

Als frisch getrautes Paar starten sie mit einem ausgiebigen Frühstück in ihren neuen Lebensabschnitt bevor die das Hotel Budir verlassen und sich auf nach Reykjavik machen. Erkunden Sie die nördlichste Hauptstadt der Welt bei einem Spaziergang durch die Innenstadt. Bummeln Sie über die Einkaufsstrasse Laugarvegur und lassen Sie in einem der vielen kleinen Cafés die Seele baumeln. Im Anschluss übernachten die in der Region Keflavík.  (ca. 220 km)

Tag 5   Abreise

Heute verabschieden Sie sich von Island und beenden Ihre Hochzeitsreise oder begeben sich zu ihrem Anschluss- & Verlängerungsprogramm auf der Insel.

To put into words our experience is very difficult and actually this can not top anything – on the wedding day the „getting ready“ in a wonderful cottage overlooking the Kirkjufell (the „Matterhorn“ Islands) at Grundarfjödur, a Nordic & Icelandic wedding ceremony in The Library of Water at Stykkisholmür, bridal photos at Kirkjufellfossar, breaking the Icelandic wedding cake Kranskaka with tea & champagne, dinner at the best fish restaurants of Iceland Bjargarsteinn and as if that were not enough, the dancing northern lights in the evening crowning the wedding day of our bridal couple and the episode photo shoot day in the most beautiful Icelandic weather on the south side of the Snaefellsnes peninsula – if we were not full of energy and live our dreams …..

So „After-Island“ quickly became „Vor-Island“ and the idea was born to combine two passions, the wedding photography & Iceland :))
