Die Familie hatte sich eine Familenfotoshooting gewünscht, denn gute Fotos von allen vier Familienmitgliedern und dann auch noch gleichzeitig sind bei Ihnen wie bei vielen anderen Familien auch eine Seltenheit. Meistens gibt es einen „Familienfotografen“ und der fehlt dann auf den Aufnahmen der anderen und auch „Selfies“ sind nicht dasselbe wie professionelle Aufnahmen.
Unsere Location in Reykjanesviti hatten wir vorallem wegen ihrere Vielseitigkeit ausgesucht – ihrem schönen Leuchttum, den bizarren Lavagestein und Felsen am Strand, einem der vielen Black Beaches auf Island und der Lupinenfelder gleich neben dran (diese blühen nur im Juli und nehmen dann aber gefühlt ganz Island ein – im übrigen sind die Lupinen nicht einheimisch und in den Nationalparks überhauot nicht gerne gesehen, nach Auskunft eines Nationalpark-Rangers – die gute Nachricht an alle Island-Touristen ist also – ja ihr dürft diese Pflanze überall ausreissen und zu Sträussen formen) und neben den Möglichkeiten der Fotolocation war auch noch ein absolutes plus ihre Nähe zur isländischen Hauptstadt Reykjavik. Reykjanesviti ist in einer guten Stunde Fahrtzeit vom Stadtzentrum Reykjavik’s aus zu erreichen in denen die Famile während ihrem Islandaufenthalt einquartiert war.
Für uns selber – Vanessa & Stephan & Jade – war die Fotoshooting-Location zwar etwas weiter weg rund 1.5 Stunden von unserem Haus in der Nähe von Akranes in West-Island aber für schöne Fotos fahren wir sehr gerne den einen oder anderen Kilometer.
Kaum in Island angekommen hiess es für uns als „arbeiten“ denn unser eigener Aufenthalt auf der Insel und der Aufenthalt der mexikanischen Familie dort überschnitt sich nur um ein paar Tage, so das wir bezüglich des Datums nicht all zu viel Auswahl hatten.
Bezüglich des Wetters auch nicht – wir hatten unglücklicherweise den regenreichsten Sommer aller Sommer in Island erwischt- kein Isländer den wir in unseren fast vier Wochen Aufenthalt dort trafen konnte uns von einem noch regenreicheren Ereignis berichten – und gewöhnlich klagt der Isländer anders als der Engländer nicht übers Wetter – es soll also schon etwas heissen. Wir selber hatten uns generell auf „unwirtliches“ Wetter im hohen Norden eingestellt von dem her liess uns so schnell nichts erschüttern. Wie sagt der Engländer doch gleich“ there is no bad weather only bad clothing – es gibt kein schlechtes Wetter nur schlechte Kleidung“ und genau dieser Satz im Hinterkopf liess und unsere Skiunterwäsche einpacken – und isländischer Sommer & Skiunterwäsche ist ein absolut unschlagbares Doppel. Während der Hitzewelle im übrigen Europa tankten wir frische kühle Luft und genossen den stürmischen Wind der in Island übrigens nicht nur an der Küste weht, sondern im ganzen Land – denn man merke sich bei Island handelt es sich schliesslich um eine Insel:))
Am besagten Tage der Tage war das Wetter dann auch durch und durch „isländisch“ :)) Gaby schrieb uns noch ein paar Tage vorher an und fragte nach „machen wir das Fotoshooting auch wenn es regnet“ und unsere Antwort war ein klares „jau“ – isländisch für ja – denn wir hatten nicht wirklich eine Alternativlocation – allenfalls hätten wir auf die Hauptstadt ausweichen können wir wollten aber viel lieber eine Naturkulisse alt Hintergrund. Und da Nieselregen & Wind in Island nicht als schlechtes Wetter gilt legten wir los….
At the very end of the Reykjanes peninsula near the lighthouse in Reykjanesviti, we met Gaby & German and their two daughters, a family from Mexico who spent a few days of their summer holidays in Iceland celebrating the fifteen birthday of their oldest year daughter with a very special trip. Gaby & German had been to Scandinavia for holidays and business – in Denmark and Sweden – but it was their first trip to the Arctic Circle to Iceland.
The family had wanted a family photo shoot, because nice photos of all four family members together at the same time have been also a rarity for them as for many other families as well. Mostly there is a „family photographer“ and then this one is missing on the shots of the others and „selfies“ are not the same compared to professional shots.
We chose our location in Reykjanesviti mainly for its versatility – its beautiful lighthouse, the bizarre lava rock and rocks on the beach, one of the many Black Beaches in Iceland and the lupine fields right next to it (only blooming in July and then felt like taking in all of Iceland the rest – the lupins are not native and in the national parks overhauot not gladly seen, according to information from a national park ranger – the good news to all Iceland tourists is – yes you may tear out this plant everywhere and form to bouquets) and one other advantage of the photo location was also an absolute plus their proximity to the Icelandic capital of Reykjavik. Reykjanesviti can be reached in an approximately one hour’s drive from Reykjavik city center where the family stayed during their vacantion in Iceland.
For us – Vanessa & Stephan & Jade – the photo shooting location was a bit further away from our house near Akranes in West Iceland, but for nice photos we like to drive one or two kilometers.
As soon as we arrived in Iceland it was said that we were „working“ because our own stay on the island and the stay of the Mexican family there only overlapped for a few days, so we had not too much choice regarding the date.
Nor, in terms of the weather – we unfortunately had the wettest summer of summer in Iceland – no Icelanders whom we met in our nearly four weeks stay there could report a more rainy event – and usually the Icelander does not complain differently than the Englishman does about the Weather – it should mean something. We ourselves had generally adjusted to „inhospitable“ weather in the far north. As the Englishman says „there is no bad weather only bad clothing“ and that is exactly what we wrote in our minds and pack our skiing underwear – and Icelandic summer & ski underwear is an unbeatable double. During the heatwave in the rest of Europe, we got fresh, cool air and enjoyed the stormy wind that blown in Iceland not only on the coast, but in the whole country – because you realize Iceland is finally an island :))
On the said day of the days, the weather was „Icelandic“ through and through :)) Gaby wrote us a few days before and asked if we „do the photo shoot even if it rains“ and our answer was a clear „jau“ – Icelandic for yes – because we did not really have an alternative location – at best we could have dodged the capital but much preferred a natural backdrop as photogenic background. And since drizzle & wind in Iceland is not considered bad weather we set off ….
