Eine sogenannte „Elopement Hochzeit“ auf der Vulkaninsel im hohen unwirtlichen Norden im Dezember wenn die Tage am kürzesten sind, der Wind rau weht und sich vielleicht in der Nacht das Nordlicht zeigt…
Natürlich steckt hinter dieser Hochzeit, wie hinter jeder Hochzeit eine ganz besondere Liebesgeschichte – diese hier beginnt bereits im Jahr 1998 als sich unser Brautpaar durch die Arbeit kennenlernte, sich eine Freundschaft zwischen den Beiden entwickelte welche aber nicht über das platonische hinausging, da beide zum damaligen Zeitpunkt anderweitig liert waren. Nach einigen Irrungen & Wirrungen und Schicksalsschläge welche das Leben leider hatte für die Beiden parat hatte, fanden sie schliesslich im Jahr 2015 auch als Liebespaar zu einander und begannen ihre Liebesgeschichte mit einem ersten zarten Kuss im Winter am 15.12.2015, und mit Frühling im Herzen zu schreiben.
Am 15.12.2018 sollte diese ganz besondere Liebesgeschichte nun einen ersten grossen Höhepunkt erleben mit der ganz persönlichen, intimen und einzigartigen Winter-Hochzeit der Beiden in Island.
Die Idee zu zweit und auch noch in Island zu heiraten stammt ursprünglich vom Bräutigam, denn dieser war noch nie auf einer Hochzeit, die wirklich „schön“ war (in seinen Augen), wo es um das Paar und deren Gefühle zueinander ging und nicht nur um das Drumherum und um die Hochzeitsgäste. Im Vorfeld Stress bei der ganzen Planung und Organisation zu haben um dann am Hochzeitstag selber hektisch von Termin zu Termin zu hetzen, sich als „Gastgeber“ um seine Gäste kümmern zu müssen und dann einen Tag nach dem grossen Tag schnell, schnell in die Flitterwochen zu eilen – konnte er sich so beim besten Willen nicht vorstellen. Der Braut ging es da ganz ähnlich.
Ein weiterer entscheidenden Punkt welcher für eine Hochzeit nur zu zweit für die Beiden sprach ist die Tatsache, das Beide kaum enge Verwandte haben, das ihre Familie aus ihren Freunden besteht und das diese ihren Wunsch nach einer Hochzeit zu zweit sehr gut nachvollziehen konnten, weil diese Freunde das Brautpaar sehr gut kennen und wissen das diese Art des Heiratens der Persönlichkeit der Beiden entspricht. Das Brautpaar feiert sehr gerne alle anderen Festen zusammen mit ihrer „Framily“ und wird auch ganz sicher noch mit diesen auf ihre ganz besondere Hochzeit anstossen aber den Hochzeitstag selber ganz bewusst ohne Gäste begehen.
Der Hochzeitstag selber sollte nur für die Beiden sein, wie wollten ihre Liebe besiegeln, sich „ein-igeln“ im Winter in Island, denn die Beiden sind Nordländer-Fans und haben bereits einige gemeinsame Urlaube im Winter (und auch im Sommer) im Norden verbracht. Sie wollten nicht auf Gäste achten müssen, kein Essen organisieren, es niemandem Recht machen müssen, sich selber keinen Duck aussetzen und nicht in die Flitterwochen hetzen sondern bereits schon da sein. Das war ihr Traum, ihr Weg, ihr „Style“. Und Island steht für die Beiden für magische und zugleich ziemlich unbeugsame Natur und symbolisiert so perfekt ihre Liebe zueinander und war daher die erste Wahl der Beiden.
Um die Trauung auch rechtlich legal zu vollziehen hat das Brautpaar einen lokalen isländischen Hochzeitsplaner – pinkicland – in ihre Hochzeitsplanung aus Island involviert welcher sich primär um die Dokumente für die standesamtliche Trauung gekümmert hat.
Für die rechtverbindliche Trauungszeremonie des Brautpaares hatte es sich die Trauung durch einen Asen ausgesucht – die Ásatrúarfélagið (die Ásatrú-Vereinigung oder die Asenglaubensvereinigung), die Ásatrú, ist eine alte germanische, heidnische Weltanschauung und gilt in Island als eine anerkannte Religionsgemeinschaft und darf somit unter anderem Trauungen und andere rechtsverbindliche Zeremonien durchführen. Auch als Ausländer in Island kann man nach diesem alten Ritus heiraten kann.
Auf die Trauzeremonie bezogen ist der Unterschied zu den christlichen Religionen, dass sich bei den Ásatrú die Brautleute selbst verheiraten. Da gibt es keinen Gott, der dies tut. Die Rolle des Asen & Goden besteht darin, den Raum, in dem die Zeremonie stattfindet, einen heiligen Raum sein zu lassen, dafür zu sorgen, dass die Zeremonie bedeutungsvoll wird, damit auch die Brautleute und anderen Anwesenden in diesen geheiligten Raum eintreten und bewusst anwesend sein können. Dies geschieht anhand alter, seit Jahrhunderten überlieferter Texte aus der Edda, wie der Völuspá, der Weissagung der Seherin.
Der Hochzeitstag unseres Brautpaares startete mit dem Getting-Ready in ihrem Feriendomizil direkt am Grundarfjödur mit Blick auf den Berg der Berge in Island den Kirkjufell (Kirchberg). Eigentlich sind die beiden Morgenmuffel und wollten erst keine fotografische Begleitung am Hochzeitsmorgen, wir konnten sie jedoch überzeugen das besonders diese ruhigen „Vor-momente“ eine ganz besondere Geschichte erzählen und ein wertvoller Teil des besonderen Tages darstellen. Da der Winter in Island vom Licht bestimmt wird bzw. von dessen nicht Vorhandenseins starteten wir am Morgen noch in vollkommener Dunkelheit am Grundarfjödur. Nach dem sich die Brautleute getrennt voneinander in unterschiedlichen Räumen des Hauses parat gemacht hatten, führten wir die beiden zum „First Look“ dem ersten Aufeinandertreffen von Braut und Bräutigam am Hochzeitstag zusammen. Für Braut und Bräutigam war dies ein ganz besonderer Moment und der Start in den hoch-offiziellen Teil des Tages.
Im Anschluss fuhren wir gemeinsam ins ca. 40 Minuten entfernte Städtchen nach Stykkisholmur wo in der Libary of Water die Trauung der Beiden durch den Ober-Goden Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson stattfand. Das Museum trohnt auf einem Hügel oberhalb von Stykkisholmur mit Blick auf dessen Hafen und den Breidarfjödur. Stykkisholmur gilt als Tor zu den Westfjorden Islands da man diese von dort aus mit der Fähre erreicht.
Der Ober-Gode Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson traute das Brautpaar in einer wunderschönen, besinnlichen Zeremonie in welcher er zwischen deutsch und isländisch wechselte. Im Anschluss an die Zeremonie stiess das Brautpaar auf ihre Vermählung mit Champagner an und wir nutzen die Library of Water als Fotokulisse bevor wir zum eigentlichen Brautpaarfotoshooting aufbrachen welches uns am Hochzeitstag wieder zurück an den Grundarfjödur und zum Kirkjufell und Kirkjufellfossar führte. Unser Brautpaar hatte sich ein ikonisches Foto von Ihnen vor dem Berg der Berge, dem Kirkjufell gewünscht. Aufgrund des begrenzten Tageslichtes Mitte Dezember – Sonnenaufgang gegen 11:30 – Sonnenuntergang gegen 15:30 – hatten wir das grosse und längere Brautpaarfotoshooting für den Tag nach der Hochzeit verabredet um dann nicht nur an der Nordseite des Snaefellsnes-Halbinsel am Grundarfjödur sondern auch auf der Südseite in Budir, Arnarstapi, Londragar und Djupalonssandur fotografieren zu können.
In diesem Blogpost zeigen wir Euch den zweiten Tag – den Tag nach der Hochzeit – welchen wir für ein ausgiebiges Fotoshooting auf der Südseite der Snaefellsnes-Halbinsel genutzt haben.

Of course behind every wedding there is a special story and behind this very special wedding there is a
very special love story as well. The story of our bridal couple dates back to 1998, when they first got to know each other through the work and they develeoped a friendship which did not go beyond the Platonic, since both at that where engaged with other partners.
After a few trials & tribulations and misfortunes that unfortunately had life in common for the two, they finally found each other in 2015 as a loving couple and began their love story with a first tender kiss in winter on 15.12.2015, and with spring in the heart.
On 15.1.2018 this very special love story should now experience a first great climax with the very intimate and unique winter wedding of the two in Iceland. The idea of an Elopement Wedding for only the two of them and getting married in Iceland originally comes from the groom, because he has never been to a wedding that was really „beautiful“ (in his eyes), where the couple and their feelings were in the center of the wedding and not the needs of the wedding guests. Experiencing stress during the whole planning and organization and to hurry from one from appointment to the other during their wedding day and having to take care of his guests as a „host“ and then one day after stressing to their honeymoon – all this the groom could not imagine on his wedding day. The bride was quite similar.
Another crucial point in favor of a wedding for only the two of them was the fact that they both have only very few close relatives,
that their family consists of their friends and that they were able to understand their wish for a wedding together very well, because this one Friends know the bridal couple very well and know that this way of marrying corresponds to the the personality of the two. The newlyweds love to celebrate all other festivities together with their „Framily“ and will most certainly toast them with their very special wedding but willingly celebrate the wedding day without any guests.
The wedding day itself should only be for the two, as they sealed their love in the winter in Iceland, because the two are really in love with the north and have spent some of their holidays in winter and in summer in the Northern countries. They did not want pay attention to the needs of wedding guests, did not have to organize food, they did not wat to compromisse on their on wishes or put pressure on themselves, they did not want to rush into their honeymoon, they were already there. That was her dream, her way, her „style“.
And Iceland stands for both for the magical and at the same time rather stubborn nature and so perfectly symbolizes their love for each other and was therefore the first choice of the two.
In order to make the wedding legally legal, the newlyweds involved a local Icelandic wedding planner -pinkicland – in their wedding planning in Iceland, which primarily took care of the documents for the civil marriage.
For the legally binding wedding ceremony of the bride and groom, had chosen the wedding by an Asen – the Ásatrúarfélagið (the Ásatrú Association or Asenglaubensvereinigung), the Ásatrú, is an ancient Germanic,pagan worldview and is considered in Iceland as a recognized religious community and may therefore under other wedding ceremonies and other legally binding ceremonies. Even as a foreigner in Iceland you can marry after this old rite.
Which papers are exactly needed for the marriage differs from country to country. On the website of the district official, the Sýslumaður, one can inquire in English, which documents one must bring from his home country, so that the marriage in Iceland can be closed and
also in the respective homeland is legally recognized. The website of Ásatrúarfélagið (from 2009) defines Ásatrú as the belief in Icelandic or Norse folklore, the spirits and beings symbolized in this folklore, and the gods and other creatures of the Nordic pantheon.
Related to the wedding ceremony is the difference to the Christian religions, is that in Ásatrú the bride and groom marries themselves. There is no God who does this. The role of the Asen & Goden is to make the space in which the ceremony takes place a sacred space,
to make the ceremony meaningful so that the bridal party and other attendees enter and consciously enter this sacred space. This is done on the basis of ancient, for centuries handed down texts from the Edda, as the Völuspá, the prophecy of the seer.
The wedding day of our bride and groom started with the Getting-Ready in their holiday home directly at Grundarfjödur with a view of the mountain of Iceland in Iceland the Kirkjufell (Kirchberg). Actually, the two are not really early-birds and did not want any wedding reportage in the morning in the first way but we were able to convince them that especially these quiet „pre-moments“ tell a very special story and
represent a valuable part of the special day. Since the winter in Iceland is determined by the light orby its absence, we started in the morning in complete darkness at Grundarfjödur.After the bride and groom had prepared separately in different rooms of the house, we brought the two together for the „First Look“ the first meeting of the bride and groom on the wedding day. For the bride and groom, this was a very special moment and the start of the highly official part of the day.
Afterwards we drove to Stykkisholmur, which was about an 40 minutes drive from Grudarfjödur, where in the Libary of Water
the wedding ceremony of the two people took place through the Ober-Goden Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson.
The museum is perched on a hill above Stykkisholmur overlooking the harbor and Breidarfjödur. Stykkisholmur is considered the gateway to the Westfjords of Iceland as you can reach them from there by ferry.
The Libary of Water houses a collection of unique fluids that allow visitors to explore the glaciers of Iceland. This long-term installation is located in a former library building on a promontory and is a collection of both art and natural history. The collection consists of three distinct parts: one section collects (with visual representations) Icelandic weather photographs reported by the locals around the town of Stykkisholmur, where the exhibition is located, creating an interactive self-portrait of the area. This ad is accentuated by the floor of the main room, which is made of rubber and etched with English and Icelandic words referring to the weather. At the heart of the site is the title library „Library of Water“, which is housed in continuous, continuous cylinders. Each pillar in the main room is filled with water that
has been melted by one of Iceland’s 24 glaciers. Each tube contains the fluid of a single glacier, allowing visitors to travel across Iceland in space.
The Ober-Gode Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson married the bridal couple in a beautiful, contemplative ceremony in which he switched between German and Icelandic. Following the ceremony, the newlyweds toasted their wedding with champagne and we use the Library of Water as a photo backdrop before we went to the actual bridal pair photoshoot which led us back to the Grundarfjödur and Kirkjufell
and Kirkjufellfossar on the wedding day. Our bride and groom had wanted an iconic photo of you in front of the mountain of mountains, the Kirkjufell. Due to the limited daylight in mid-December – sunrise around 11:30 – sunset around 15:30 – we had the big and longer bridal pair photo shoot for the day after the wedding date not only on the north side of the Snaefellsnes peninsula on Grundarfjödur
but also on the South side in Budir, Arnarstapi, Londragar and Djupalonssandur. In this blog post we would like to show you the second day the photoshooting day.
